Mega-Candle Product News/Process Changes

When we had a custom candle mold for two-foot tall candles made in 2004, we were expecting to use if for niche-market devotional candles (e.g. vigil candles that actually have to be burning continuously for weeks at a time). We have been continuously surprised at the number of customers, retail and wholesale, who buy them for their homes and businesses, from new age shops looking for chakra-colored meditation candles to people who just think a two-foot candle looks cool on their mantle.

Lately, we have seen an upsurge of orders for these candles, especially among wholesale customers. Several of you have told us that a pair of recent business closings have left us as one of very few remaining manufacturers of these unique items and the only domestic manufacturer we are still aware of. As we have dealt with this influx of interest, it has brought up all kinds of interesting challenges, including shipping five or more of them at a time without the Post Office turning them into powder, making mega-candles out of natural waxes, and keeping up a rate of production for our demanding wholesale customers without losing the hand-crafted feel of our products. To this end, we are making some changes to our production and product line.

What is "Junk Silver"?

Written by Eric Vought

We accept payment in "Junk Silver". Junk silver is pre-1965 or post-1985 circulated US silver coins (such as Franklin half-dollars or Silver American Eagles(SAE)) which have no value to coin collectors but do contain significant amounts of silver. Pre-1965 US dimes, quarters, half-dollars, and dollars contain 90% silver, and post-1985 Silver American Eagles are 1 ounce of 99.99% fine silver. We also accept AOCS-approved silver rounds. We offer significant discounts for payment in hard currency.
