Goat's Milk Chicory Soap

Handmade, french milled, lye soap with goat's milk and chicory. Mild and moisturizing. The ground and roasted chicory root adds a deep chocolate color, a touch of coffee scent, and a mild exfoliant. The base soap is our castile soap (olive oil and beeswax). This is an excellent, gentle, moisturizing face soap for most people or a good hand soap if you have dry skin.

Sold by the ounce in rough cut bars (2-4 ounces is a good bar). We will match the number of bars to your requested weight as closely as possible. Store excess bars in a cool, dry place.

Chicory, with its pale blue flowers, is a common roadside and pasture plant in Missouri with many uses. It has been used as a coffee substitute during past shortages and the latin name for the plant, Chicorium, comes from the Arabic word for coffee. Our family still uses it as a drink today, both hot and sweetened and iced in the summer. We started using it in soap several years ago while looking for a good natural coloring, scent, and exfoliant from a local plant and it has proven very popular.
