Appropriately for Labor Day weekend, we will be laboring. We will have a General Workday out here on Labor Day (Monday, 7 September) from 11:00 am to 7 pm. Come and go as you please. Bring a project to share, show, or get help on or help us with our projects. Do research in our homesteading, political, and economic library. Check back here for updates on the event.
There will also be a meeting for The Statesmen For Our Constitutional Republic on Sunday evening (see below) and we will be working on fencing in a new pasture (sheep tight) on Saturday if you are interested in helping.
The day has finally come where we have sold our last paraffin candle. We have sold the remainder of our paraffin stock and removed the custom candle options for paraffin from the site. We will continue to concentrate on renewable waxes like the beeswax, palm wax, and bayberry candles.
We started experimenting with palm wax in 2003 to see if it was a viable alternative to paraffin for pillar candles. We did not want to work with soy wax because it is limited to container candles and we wished to keep making free-standing pillars and votive candles. As we work with palm wax, we have decided that its quality is consistently superior to paraffin in all respects in addition to being made from renewable resources and an agricultural waste product (palm leaves from coconut farming).
